I did the Jungle Expedition and the Movie/ Ranch tours - These two tours are a great way to learn about the Ranch and its significance in the Hawaiian Islands, Some amazing views will greet you over to chinamans Hat as you rise to the top of the valley. The movie set tour first arrived at Battery Cooper for a short educational on World War 2 and then a display of the many movies filmed on the Ranch , it was then onto the many plots of land that were used in these films.
Kualoa was established in 1850 as 4,000-acre Private Nature Reserve, also as a working cattle ranch with more than 500 head of cattle, stretching from the steep mountain cliffs to the sparkling sea. Located on the northeastern side of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands
This is Country and along with the white sandy shores of Kaneohe Bay, it is just 24 miles from Honolulu. The reserve terrain varies from dense rainforest to open valleys and from beautiful white sandy beaches to cliff faces. It is truly a paradise for outdoor recreation with many places accessible only by Horseback, All-terrain Vehicle (ATV), or by hiking.
If the country side looks familiar, it’s because the Kualoa Ranch has been the site of many television shows and Hollywood films such as Jurassic World and Jurassic Park, Windtalkers, Pearl Harbor, Godzilla, Tears of the Sun and 50 First Dates. TV shows including the old and new Hawaii Five-O, Magnum P.I. and LOST have also been filmed at Kualoa. It has become known as the “Hawaii Backlot”,
There are two major areas of the property: the northern half which includes Kaʻaʻawa Valley, which is AKA the “Jurassic Valley” and contains most of the movie locations, and the southern half that includes Hakipuʻu Valley, an 800-year old ancient Hawaiian fishpond, and our own Island -
The Kualoa Ranch is one of the most historically significant areas on Oʻahu, and is one of the most sacred places on the island. Come and embrace the ALOHA and the ʻohana (family) that is present on the ranch.
Kualoa Sugar Mill -
Between 1863 / 1870, the Kualoa Sugar Mill was operated by Charles Judd and Samuel Wilder. The mill was closed after years of rainfall that effectively brought an end to sugar farming at Kualoa
