Auckland Zoo is a 16.35-hectare (40-acre) zoological garden in Auckland, New Zealand, situated next to Western Springs park not far from Auckland's central business district. It is run by the Auckland Council with the Auckland Zoological Society as a supporting organisation.
The Major exhibits include -
Pridelands and African Savannah, Elephant Clearing, Australia, Primate Trail, The Rainforest, The Tropics, Te Wao Nui, Tiger Territory, KidZone.
You can expect to see Elephants, Rhinos, Giraffes to Lions, Tigers, Red pandas, Primates, Meekats plus many more.
Auckland Zoo plays a park in Conservation, mainly for New Zealand species and of course research/ education. Two which are listed here,
New Zealand Centre for Conservation Medicine (NZCCM).
Auckland Zoo is a full institutional member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association (ZAA),
Conservation is a very important topic in the 21st century and one we all should take a little time to educate ourselves with.
A great half a day can easily be spent here if your visiting or a local with plenty animals to view and learn about.
