Werribee Open Range Zoo is a African experience much closer to your door step... When you arrive its recommend that you head off to do the Safari Tour as around Lunch time and peak periods it can get extremely busy.

The Safari Tour is approximately a 45 minute ride through the "Victorian Savanahs" Here you will get to see Camel, Hippo, Giraffe and many more.

once the tour is over you can view many other animals via a loop track and there is also a large open Australian native section with notable animals such as koala, emu and kangaroo as well as the cassowary.

Getting there:

Werribee Open Range Zoo is located 35 kilometres west of Melbourne’s city centre, on the Princes Freeway. It is a short 30-minute drive from the city over the Westgate Bridge or via Geelong. (Take the Werribee South exit to K Road.)

The Zoo is also en route to the Great Ocean Road and is a major attraction on the Great Southern Touring Route.

Train: take the Werribee line which is about 80 minutes from the CBD and then a bus to Werribee Park where also Werribee Mansion is located.
